The Art of Tribal Tattoos

admin » 30 August 2009 » In Tattoos » No Comments

For years now, people from around the world have appreciated the art of tribal tattoos. But in the past, the natives were the first to have discovered and used it for different purposes. Over time, it has been passed on from one generation to another. And now, the westerners have loved this kind of body art.

So where did it first originate? How did it come to be? Well, during the ancient times, these tribal designs were not just body decorations. They often mean something. The symbols may signify rank, status, or power of the individual bearing it. Various people from different cultures have adapted this kind of tribal tattoo before as an aspect of human life. However, various cultures have different tribal tattoo designs.

It is said that the first style was found in Egypt, way back then, when pharaohs were on the throne. Hieroglyphics is one of the most popular tribal tattoo designs and even though the symbols were very meaningful to the ancient people, some see it as a form of art. However, Egyptians have also used it to represent religious and cultural scenes. The Egyptians were firm believers of the afterlife and so they drew half animal and half human tattoos to symbolize life after death. Next to that are the Asian tribal tattoos.

The Hindus used it to decorate the bride’s body and it was called the henna tattoo. But now, henna tattoos become popular than ever. Although it is not anymore used as a part of the bride’s wedding adornment, it was highly appreciated by gothic artists and enthusiasts.

A tattoo artist can have an imaginative way of combining these symbols, shapes and designs. There are many tattoo artists all over the world who specialize in this field. Most women prefer henna tribal tattoos because they are not permanent. In a week or two, the henna tribal tattoos disappear. On special occasions, parties, or beach events, you can see booths that offer these kinds of henna tattoos in a jiffy. Aside from that, the native Americans have their own set of tribal tattoos too. They can be in the form of flame-like designs or other symbols. Some other symbols represent peace, wisdom, unity or love. If you want to search for designs, you can browse the internet. You will be displayed with a dozen results.

Moreover, you can print out so that you can let the tattoo artist give you the tribal tattoo design you really want. However, there are tattoo artists that really know which one best suits you. They have a portfolio of the symbols and designs you can choose from. But before you can actually have it done, think a couple of times first. This is because a permanent tattoo may take time before it can be completely removed. The price of tribal tattoos may vary. The size or the intricacy of the design is a factor that affects the rate. The larger the tribal tattoo, the more pricey it will be. But if you want to have a uniquely designed tribal tattoo, you can make one by drawing it.

The typical tribal tattoo is embedded on the arm or in the back. Sometimes, the design may be wrapped around their arm or in the shoulder part. Most women prefer their tribal tattoos placed in the small of their back or at the hands. People often get tribal tattoos to express themselves through body art and decor. Sometimes, they want to preserve a certain image that may make the person unique in one way or another. There are many professional tattoo artists that give only the best tribal tattoos. Finding them would not be hard at all, if you know where to look. It is best if you canvass first or think of a design before you actually get a tattoo for yourself.

Is the Tattoo Sleeve Right For You?

admin » 26 August 2009 » In Tattoos » No Comments

Tattoos created by talented and skilled artists are rightly regarded as works of art.

However, what makes a tattoo really outstanding is the surface it is created upon, in this case it is inked onto your skin; you can actually turn your own body into a work of art.

You can have tattoos inked onto almost every part of your body, as a matter of fact, the location of your tattoo depends entirely upon you. One form of tattoo which has gained a lot of popularity lately is the tattoo sleeve.

So, what is a tattoo sleeve? A tattoo sleeve is a tattoo design that covers a large portion of your body and is created in such a way that the tattoo shows very little of your own skin. The entire area is covered with intricate patterns, objects, and designs.

As the name suggests, the tattoo sleeve is most often applied onto the arms. Commonly there are three main types of sleeve tattoos: Full Sleeve (shoulder to wrist); Half Sleeve (elbow to wrist, sometimes known as quarter sleeve as well); and Quarter Sleeve (shoulder to bicep).

However, a sleeve tattoo can be applied to other areas of your body; its name means that it is a wrap-around design and can also be applied to your leg as well. The important thing to remember about a sleeve tattoo is that it must wrap entirely around your arm or leg rather than being a single or group of images located on an otherwise bare piece of skin.

A professionally created tattoo sleeve design can be the most beautiful piece of artwork that can be inked onto your skin. However, the search for the best design for sleeve tattoos can be quite difficult and time consuming as you need to select your sleeve design with care. It is important that you plan out a tattoo sleeve and that you avoid rushing; a tattoo sleeve that has brilliant design and competently applied colours can be a work of art, one that is not well planned or executed can be a disaster.

If you are considering a tattoo sleeve, you will also need to bear in mind the cost of such a large tattoo, be prepared to pay the price. These types of tattoo do not come cheap and of course the larger and more intricate the design the more you should expect to pay for it. In fact, a full sleeve tattoo can be priced anywhere from a few hundred to one or two thousand dollars.

And you must remember that due to the nature of these types of tattoo, you will have to arrange more than one sitting, multiple sessions will be needed to see the completed design. A full sleeve tattoo can take between 20 and 30 hours to get done and for a tattoo of this size and complexity your tattoo artist will usually break up your sessions into 1 hour appointments.

Making the commitment to get a sleeve tattoo is a big decision. It will take a lot of money and plenty of time in the tattoo chair before it is complete, especially if you would like a full sleeve tattoo. But you must never rush into getting one, instead, make sure the design you want is carefully worked out and planned and choose a skilled and talented tattoo artist as they will be able to help you with all the preparation of your tattoo sleeve.

What Are Maori Tribal Tattoos?

admin » 25 August 2009 » In Tattoos » No Comments

The Maori tribes are natives of New Zealand. Though, they are part of the Polynesian heritage, they have given themselves a distinct cultural heritage that historians have separated them from the different tribes of Polynesia.

It is very much the same for their tattoo designs. The Maori tribal tattoos have their own unique identity compared to their Polynesian counterparts. Their spirals and curved shapes form a very intricate pattern that very distinctive to the Maori tribes. Legend said that a young warrior learned the art of the Maori tribal tattoos from the lord of the underworld, after winning back the heart of the lord’s daughter.

For the Maori tribe, the tattoos are part of special rituals celebrating a particular or special event in one tribesman’s life. A tribesman would receive his or her first tattoo as a rite of passage from childhood to adolescent and would be added whenever there are significant events in his or her life that would need to be celebrated. A tribesman that would be awarded with a tattoo would go into fasting before he or she was given a tattoo. During the ceremony itself, there would be music and chanting as it is a celebration not only for that particular tribesman but for the whole tribe itself.

Both men and women of the tribe can be awarded with a tattoo as a show of courage, strength and would be given a specific status in the tribe. The tattoos of the men in particular would cover the whole face while the women would only cover the cheeks and the lips, though sometimes the tattoos for the women would cover the neck as well.

It is said that the more tattoos a person have in his body, the higher his status is in their tribe. Tribesmen who do not have a tattoo in their bodies were considered worthless. Though women in the tribe have lesser tattoos in their bodies, it is mostly because they are not required to show much courage and strength and leave their men to it.

Maori tribal tattoos are mostly known for their face tattoos. But there are also tattoo designs that are used for the body specifically the legs and the buttocks. The body tattoos would be closely similar to the face tattoos with the small difference of the curves and spirals being bigger and more distinct than the face tattoos would be.

At present, the Maori tribal tattoos are being revived after it was almost extinct in the late 19th century. It has lost much of it significance during the arrival of the European settlers in New Zealand but is slowly being revived including the ancient way of putting on the tattoos. But today’s tribal tattoos are mostly placed on the body and are seldom being done on the face. The use of modern equipment to put the tattoos has also replaced the old ways.

But even with the modernization of the Maori tribal tattoos, there is one thing that the Maori tribe had kept in their tradition. That is to keep a tattoo unique since a tattoo is a symbol of a person’s identity. To copy an existing Maori tattoo design is an insult to the Maori tribesman you have copied it from. So, get a tattoo that is unique.

So You Got Your Tattoo? – 10 Excellent Aftercare Instructions

admin » 24 August 2009 » In Tattoos » No Comments

Congratulations on getting your tattoo! Now it’s time to take proper care of it and maintain it! Your tattoo artist should have given you instructions on how look after your tattoo. Aftercare instructions may vary from artist to artist. So what I am about to list is just a general aftercare plan, this may or may not be different from what was explained to you from your artist.

1. After your tattoo is finished your artist will have covered your tattoo with some sort of gauze or anti-stick padding or bandaging to make sure that the area where you have gotten your tattoo will not get infected. Leave this on for up to four hours so that you blood can have a chance to clot and not be exposed to bacteria.

2. Whenever you are handling your tattoo, make sure that you have clean hands! We don’t want any bacteria to get on your skin and cause an infection!

3. You should have now waited up to four hours, and you can now take off your gauze, or bandaging. Be sure that you have washed your hands before you start doing this! With warm water and an anti-bacterial soap, clean your tattoo of any blood that has surfaced on the area. Use your hand, or a very soft cloth to wipe the blood off. Do not use any cleaning products beside anti-bacterial soap because your skin needs to remain moist so that the tattoo can properly heal. Any cleaning products may dry out your tattoo and this can cause big problems!

4. After you have cleaned your tattoo, use any kind of anti-bacterial ointment, and cover your tattoo area. Do this about 5-6 times for several days. Do not use anything else but anti-bacterial ointment. We do not want your tattoo to fade and lose it’s colour.

5. You now have to let your tattoo air out so that it can heal properly. Do not cover it with gauze or bandaging during the rest it’s healing process.

6. So now it’s been a several days since you have gotten your tattoo. So you should have been applying anti-bacterial ointment 5-6 times a day, and now it’s time to move to a moisturizer. This will prevent scabbing and peeling. Make sure to use a moisturizer that is fragrance free so that it does not cause any irritation to the area.

7. Avoid drenching your tattoo with water. Showering is perfectly fine, just don’t completely saturate your tattoo. If you get shampoo or soap on your tattoo be sure to wash it off quickly! I do not avoid taking a bath or swimming since submerging it in a lot of water will ruin your tattoo.

8. Also try and avoid tanning or prolonged exposure to the sun since it will fade out your tattoo. Put sunblock on your tattoo to avoid fading. You really do not want to have to go back and get your tattoo re-touched a few years down the road now do you? Didn’t think so!

9. Do not pick at the scabs on your tattoo! This is not a good thing to do! No matter how itchy or annoying it is, do not do it! It can remove ink from your tattoo and ruin it. Put some moisturizer to keep your skin moist and relieve the itching.

10. Your tattoo will “bleed” ink during the first little while. So I advise wearing some clothing that you don’t mind getting ink from your tattoo on. It should wash out, but I still think you should wear something you do not really care about. Or you could just not wear clothing on that certain part of your body, depending on where it is of course. But do not put gauze or bandaging on your tattoo to cover it.

So there are 10 aftercare instructions that will keep your tattoo safe! Remember to always wash your hands when handling your tattoo, do not cover it with any bandaging after the first several days, stay out of the sun, do not drench your tattoo, and you should be fine! Thanks for reading!

Wrist Tattoo Designs – Are They A Good Choice For You

admin » 22 August 2009 » In Tattoos » No Comments

Tattoos are a new fashion statement these days and people love to wear various signs and drawings on their skin. There are plenty of tattoo artists that became famous because their designs are almost perfect. If you go to the tattoo parlor without knowing where to ink your first tattoo, you might want to consider wrist tattoo designs.

As soon as you decide what tattoo type you want, you will also have to do some serious thinking about where do you want it placed. You can always go for a wrist tattoo because they are very popular these days but before doing that you should read on very carefully.

- You’ll have to endure the pain. Every tattoo without exception will cause pain but a wrist tattoo is more painful than any other tattoo. That happens because the skin on your wrist is less thick than on the rest of your body. On the other side a wrist tattoo is usually small and it won’t take too long to ink.

- Your skin will require a longer time to heal mainly because the wrist is a very exposed part of the body. The healing period is usually two or more weeks.

- This type of tattoo requires additional touch up work. Because the wrist is very exposed there’s a big chance that the tattoo ink will fade very fast. A wrist tattoo will need touch up work sooner than another one located on other part of your body.

- You can hide it very easily. The most effective way to do that is by wearing long sleeved shirts. Also when it’s warm outside, you can cover it with a bracelet or a watch. If you’re planning to get a professional job or you already have it, it would be best to hide it though.

- A tattoo wrist design is pretty cheap. Compared to the tattoos on other parts of the body, this type of tattoo is very small and that’s why the price is so low.

The tattoo artists establish the costs considering the size and the colors of each model but in most cases people only choose less than three colors.

Many people see a tattoo as a form of expression and that why the location is just as important as the tattoo design. Depending on what part of your body you want tattooed, the artist will suggest the size of the tattoo. If you love discretion, then a wrist tattoo is definitely the best choice.

Tips to Design Your Own Tattoo Properly

admin » 22 August 2009 » In Tattoos » No Comments

An important aspect for a person who is interested in getting a tattoo is the ability to design your own tattoo. Most tattoo shops provide a service by which they allow their customers to set about designing their custom tattoos. Such an enterprise would be extremely personal, and most tattoo shops that pursue it will generally have a large amount of business, as it implies that the shop gives personal attention to its customers.

Thus, in increasing number of people have nowadays been visiting such tattoo artists with their own designs for their tattoos, in order to create their perfect tattoo. While the shop’s artist might add or subtract some elements or even rearrange a few parts from the original design, the customer will eventually have a completely unique tattoo that they have almost completely designed on their own. Apart from this, there are a large number of designs for tattoos that are provided around the internet and can be downloaded and modified and changed to meet a person’s personal style or taste. Thus, even if you are not blessed with an artistic temperament, you could design your own tattoo creatively.

People generally have someone else with them to decide on the designs to appraise it and help them make it better or more personalised. This is a very good idea for people with a good idea for a tattoo but are unsure of how to get their imagine out of their imagination and onto the sketchpad of the artist. Thus, it would be a good idea to take a friend along with you while planning to design your own tattoo.

Thus, by simply looking through the internet, one could very easily find a design for their tattoo. A slight amount of modification will probably be necessary to create one that is perfect for an individual, and all the images downloaded from the site could then be sent to the shop that would make the tattoos, along with the instructions for the changes that must be made to the design.

Obviously, creating a custom tattoo will have a higher cost. The cost would depend on the quantity of work that would be needed to bring the design close to what is desired by the customer. Due to the rising popularity of personalised tattoos, many more shops are now beginning to use this idea themselves. This is because imagination and creativity are essential for tattoo shops, as with all businesses. It is obvious that imagination plays an important part when you design your own tattoo.

The free tattoo designs on the net, however, will probably not be brilliant and could prove to be quite a disappointment, as with most other things, a person gets what he pays for. However, there are a large number of good quality designs that are cheap and affordable that are also available online. Thus, finding a site that provides affordable designs should not be too hard, and using this design a person could start of with the first step towards designing his or her own tattoo. It is important to remember that a person’s tattoo should reflect a person’s personality and must be unique, because otherwise it defeats the purpose of a custom tattoo. Thus a picture that looks good or interesting should not be chosen immediately, but one must go deeper so that they have something that they don’t get tired off with time, because they will have it for the rest of their lives. Thus, custom tattoos are good as they allow you to design your own tattoo that you can find satisfactory.

Tattoo Designs – What Are the Hottest and Sexiest Tattoo Designs?

admin » 21 August 2009 » In Tattoos » No Comments

At an early age of fifteen, a teenager would love to get a tattoo. The reason? Simply because this form of body art symbolizes individuality and independence, which are common purposes that teenagers try to achieve.

But tattoos are more of an expression of one’s self, rather than a key to break free from social norms or to gain personal independence. Through tattoos, a person finds himself, and represents himself with the designs and patterns he opted to be placed on his skin. Somehow it is a way to empower oneself, especially when emotional oppressors are sinking in.

Many people experience happiness through tattoos, and no one can take it away from them. Some people may not understand why there are those who would love to stain their selves with body art, but then again its happiness and it only needs a little understanding.

Describing tattoos

Tattoos come in different sizes, shapes, forms, colors, and patterns. Some are huge and are overwhelming with lines and curves, while others are quite miniature and cute. Others have an actual picture, but others would seem puzzling, and only the tattoo owner can understand what it is all about.

Choosing the tattoo designs is the most challenging part for many tattoo fanatics. It takes a long time to get decided, because these forms of body art are permanent and can only be removed through laser. Some may cost more bucks, especially if it entails a complex pattern. Tattoo shops have designs that are ready to be applied, and the customer does not need to do anything but to choose. But if the customer wants to make his own design, tattoo artist would examine first if it is possible and of course how much it will cost.

Designing tattoos

Some of the famous tattoo designs that are usually chosen by tattoo enthusiasts are tribal tattoos. Actually, there are dozens of tribal tattoos to choose from, and many of these came from unique tribes and cultures, such as the Maori tribe of New Zealand, the Aztec tribe of Mexico, and the Celtic tribe of Europe. There are also tribal tattoo designs influenced by Asian cultures.

Another set of designs of tattoos are butterfly tattoos. These are the top choices of women. Butterfly tattoos are very attractive to look at, especially if the wings are multi-colored. These tattoos symbolize femininity, independence, and freedom.

Heart tattoos symbolizes romance and passion for love. These are top picks of lovers or of persons in love. Heart tattoos are fun, especially if the name of one’s crush or admiration is written inside it.

Angel tattoos would usually represent religious beliefs, but tattoo artist nowadays have created designs of angel tattoos to represent romance and seduction. But no worries, ladies who adore an innocent angel can always opt for happy and childlike angel tattoo designs.

There are dozens more of designs to choose from. These include dolphins, fishes, flowers, guns, flags, and horses. In fact, anyone can even personalize his name. Just present to the tattoo artist how the name would look like as a tattoo and he will do the job.

Tattoo Removal-what are My Choices?

admin » 18 August 2009 » In Tattoos » No Comments

Tattoos in the past essentially were permanent and if you wanted to get rid of it you could either have it changed to look like something else, learn to live it or find a new girl friend/boy friend with the same name as the previous one. Sometimes we regret that decision made under the influence of tequila shots, Jell-O shooters or that hot two week love affair. Due to recent technology advances there are now some better options on what method to be used to get rid of that tat. All tattoos have different characteristics so removal techniques must be tailored to suit each individual case.

Professional artists usually penetrate the deeper layers of the skin at more uniform depths. This allows methods that remove broader areas of inked skin at the same depth.

Amateurs cannot duplicate the uniformity of depth so lesser skilled tattooists usually apply ink at more varying depths making removal much more difficult.

If you have decided that for some reason, you just gotta get rid of that body art, the choices are:

1. Laser Surgery

2. Intense Pulsed Light

3. Dermabrasion

4. Surgical Excision

5. Salabrasion

6. Removal Creams

7. Cover-up

Laser Surgery

Laser surgery is considered the most effective non invasive, bloodless removal alternative. A high-intensity laser beam is targeted on the imbedded ink by a surgeon where he directs high intensity pulses to break up the pigment. The laser is applied with micro-second lasting pulses and it takes about 200 pulses for a small tattoo. The laser energy causes the tattoo pigment to vaporize into smaller particles that are then removed by the body’s immune system. Laser surgery is relatively low risk, pain free and effective with the least side effects. Multiple treatments are normally required. Expect to experience minor pain similar to the original tattooing experience. The lasers high energy vaporizing the ink under your skin will cause sensations similar to specs of hot grease. It usually takes more than one treatment which only takes a few minutes.

Intense Pulsed Light

Intense Pulsed Light Therapy is the most recent development in tattoo removal. This method uses high intensity light instead of lasers’ to vaporize the ink. After applying a gel a wand is aimed at the tattoo that emits high intensity light pulses. One the plus side this method is less painful and more effective but is much more expensive than laser removal.

Dermabrasion

Basically dermabrasion consist of freezing the removal area of skin and the top layers are sanded off to remove the inked area. This is done with a high speed rotary sanding type device. You will need at least a local or some other type of anesthetic, hey; you are getting your skin sanded off! There will also be some bleeding and a dressing will need to be applied. After the affected area heals the scarring will depend on an individuals own body and what the location on your body the tattoo was on.

Surgical Excision

Surgical Excision is nothing more than having a dermatologic surgeon use a scalpel to remove the inked skin and closing up the wound with stitches. This is ok for small tattoos on certain parts of the body. It is even possible to remove larger areas and graft skin from other parts of the body. Again you will need an anesthetic to numb the area but scaring will be limited to the sutured area and is usually minimal. This method results in the most complete and immediate removal of tattoo ink.

Salabrasion

Salabrasion is the oldest and crudest tattoo removal technique. I has been used for a few hundred years and is still occasionally used today. Local anesthetic consisting of tap water dipped in table salt is applied on the tattooed area. An abrading device like the one used with dermabrasion, or an even something simpler like a wooden block wrapped with gauze, is used to scrape the area. After the tattooed area gets deep red, it is covered up with bandages to heal. This is the preferred method selected by the biggest and baddest biker dudes and those lucky few who can drive nails through their hands and not feel it. If you are seeking a professional for a tattoo removal and he mentions the word Salabration, see how fast you can find the nearest exit and hope he hasn’t already locked the doors.

Tattoo removal creams

Removal creams have varying degrees of success much of which is dependent on the individual tattoo characteristics, depth of ink, type of ink and individuals body chemistry. Before spending a large amount of money for surgery you may want to try a removal cream if you can accept fading as opposed to complete removal.

Cover-up

So you changed your mind and for some reason you just do not like your latest tattoo but don’t necessarily want to get rid of it but just change it to something else. A tattoo cover-up job can be much less painful and cheaper alternative to removal. You just gotta find a skilled tattoo artist who can help you redesign the image into something you like and have him do the modifications. It is amazing what a talented artist can do to completely change a tattoo. Just make sure that you find an artist that is experienced in doing this and ask to see pictures of some of his modification jobs.

It doesn’t matter what removal method you use there will be some type of scaring or color variations. The most important thing is to consult with a physician that specializes or has extensive experience in removing tattoos. The Attraction of Foot Tattoos

admin » 17 August 2009 » In Tattoos » No Comments

The tattoos of today are vastly different in style and placement to those of the old days. These, and the ability to create a truly unique design, are the reasons that foot tattoos are considered one way to express your individuality. Ultimately it is only you that will decide exactly what kind of tattoo you will have and where on your body you will place it.

But remember, what you consider the best design style and placement of tattoo may not be the best for other people. Choosing the right design and location is going to be difficult if this is your first tattoo, with this in mind it might be worth considering a foot tattoo as they are becoming increasingly popular.

Here are some facts about foot tattoos:

Foot tattoos are typically more painful: Because your feet are less fleshy than other parts of your body the skin on the foot is closer to the bone. The closer the skin is to the bone the more painful the tattoo will be. However, because feet are a smaller body part the tattoos tend to be smaller, the time spent in pain should be less as a result.

Foot tattoos are less obvious: Depending on where you work visible tattoos may not be acceptable, and you must always think of whatever future job or career changes may become available. Unfortunately, tattoos are not typically considered professional looking. If you choose a foot tattoo, and eventually get a professional job it will be very easy to conceal.

However, you need to remember that while healing it is recommended that you wear open shoes for the entire time. It usually takes between 2-3 weeks for a foot tattoo to heal but if it is absolutely required that you wear shoes, then it is advisable that you wear 2 pairs of light socks.

A tattoo on your foot is often considered sexy: Of course opinions will vary on what type of tattoo looks good on other people and even people who generally do not like tattoos seem not to mind foot tattoos and even find them attractive.

Foot tattoos may require more frequent touch-up work: Your feet are often exposed to harsher conditions than other parts of your body, after all you spend all day standing on them and after some time the ink on your foot tattoo may spread out and make the tattoo look blurry.

Popular foot tattoo designs: Star designs, words, and flowers. Of course you can work with your tattoo artist to create a unique and interesting design if you want something more than the usual type of foot tattoo images. Just remember the larger and more intricate the design the more painful the tattoo will probably be, and the more it will cost.

Women and the Tattoo Fashions

admin » 16 August 2009 » In Tattoos » No Comments

With so many coupons out there, did you ever think that there could be some for tattoo shops? Now that tattoos are becoming so popular with women, there is no reason why you wouldn’t start seeing such situations. Even though fifty years ago women were only ten percent of the tattooed population, tattoos are now becoming increasingly popular among women. Even looking back just into the 1980’s, women were viewed as trashy if they had tattoos so very few had art tattooed onto their skin.

But now tattoos on women are increasingly popular. In fact, women make up sixty five percent of the tattoos that are being placed. It is said that one in four women have a tattoo and that number will probably grow with time. Since there are many places a woman can have a tattoo and be able to hide it when wanted, there is no reason to suspect that the number of women getting tattoos will do anything but grow.

The Placement of the Tattoo

It is the placement of the tattoo that is often times considered to be more important then the actual image being tattooed on the skin. The stomach and the back are very popular places on women for tattoos as they are easily hidden and able to be shown when desired through the help of different kinds of shirts and bathing suits. Ankles and on the front of the hips are two other places that are very popular for tattoo placement on women.

The Designs

Many years back, the few women who would get tattoos were known for getting only small flowers, a name, or some other small cute tattoo that was very feminine looking. Now though, with so many tattoo options out there and women becoming more comfortable in their skin, the designs of the tattoos have grown widely.

Unicorns, butterflies, fairies, shooting stars, tribal and Celtic designs are extremely popular. Even though you may see many women with a butterfly tattoo, there is a good chance that each of the tattoos is slightly different. This is because women tend to be more in tune with want they want and how what they get will make them feel. Also, women are more patient and willing to wait to come up with a custom design so that they are not walking around with the same exact tattoo that millions of other women have. Everyone having the same style is not something that many women enjoy.

This probably comes from the fact that many of the same women hate seeing another wearing the same outfit, shoes, or even carrying the same purse. Women want the latest in fashion and they want their style to be a little different then others and they want it to be better. This attitude has apparently carried over in the world of tattoos. While some may consider this to be a picky woman, this is going to be a woman who will not regret her tattoo choice and design as a lot of thought and feeling was put into it.

Cool And Trendy Tattoo Designs For Men

admin » 15 August 2009 » In Tattoos » No Comments

Tattoos have become the most sought-after styling quotient in the recent times. With each passing year, innovative and cool tattoo designs are being invented for men to add an extra point to their ‘macho-meter.’ However, not all tattoos are necessarily brash and macho in design. There are also many creative tattoo ideas that are gradually becoming more popular.

Before getting a tattoo done on any part of the body, it is good to take some precautions.

For instance, one must ask the tattoo-designer to use a new needle and tube-setup for making a tattoo. Also, the artist must wear gloves prior to fixing of needles and tubes.

Choosing A Tattoo Design

After this, one has to make a choice of design for a tattoo. While selecting a tattoo pattern one must understand that the design should be in sync with one’s style and personality.

There are various tattoo pictures available on the internet. Also, one has to choose the body part where he thinks the tattoo would get the most attention.

For the past few years, some designs have become increasingly popular in men’s tattoo art category. Tattoo designs for men are mostly drawn on their arms, biceps, chest, back and shoulders.

Popular Tattoo Designs

When it comes to tattoo ideas for men, Celtic designs are very trendy nowadays. These designs look macho when flaunted as men’s arms tattoos. Other than that, there are various tribal tattoo designs which are quite popular these days.

Haida and Polynesian tribal symbols are emerging as an interesting segment for men’s tattoo ideas. These signs encompass a collection of totem-patterns, signs and symbols representing masculinity. Tribal tattoos are marked for their angular and sharp edges and dark-black ink lines. They provide that rough, macho appeal to one’s style.

Though traditionally represented as feminine designs, floral tattoos can also look as cool and chic as men’s arms tattoos. There are different types of floral prints that men can opt for. It is best to consult a tattoo artist for more information.

Bird wing tattoos are another hot favorite with men. There are some categories of birds that add a rugged look to a muscular physique. For example, eagle, vulture or hawk wings across the chest or shoulders.

Other than that, nowadays there are elaborate skeletal and dragon designs that add a sense of mystery along with a strong look. For example, there are fascinating designs of blood-dripping spinal cord patterns or those of human skull.

Dragon tattoos have always been very popular men’s tattoo designs. Detailed designs of a furious dragon breathing fire or spreading its wings to pounce are great themes for men’ tattoo ideas. They represent courage and valor for men.

Other than that, there are subtle themes like ‘cross’ designs which too are widely used as men’s tattoo.  Animal tattoos and abstract design concepts are some more tattoo patterns that are in high demand as men’s tattoo ideas.

It doesnt matter if you find the perfect Tattoo , the one that will alway’s be the best representation of you and the story of your life, if the Tattoo artist is less than sufficient to create the Tat itself. Artist selection is definitely just as important as choosing the Tattoo itself, but how can we know which one to trust?

It if was, we could simply browse through past work and get a real idea of the Tattoo Artists ability.

What about picture’s of past work?

That is the number 1 question I am asked when discussing how to select a tattoo artist. And yes, pictures do help. They will let you know the drawing skills of the that artist. But pictures are usually taken immediatley after the Tattoo is finished, or soon there-after. But that isnt always a true measure of the Artist’s talent. There is a reason for this…

Tattoo’s and skin change.

How many time’s have we seen a great looking tattoo on one of our friends or acquaintance’s, and later on down the road, not too far down the road, they are back at the Tattoo Studio getting the Tattoo reworked. We all know that Tattoo reworks over time arent neccessarily a sign of an inept Tattoo artist, but sometimes the reason’s for the rework are definitely a sign, a bad sign.

When asked “How to select a Tattoo Artist”, the number 1 answer is a common answer to many of the talent inqueries we face. And the answer it’s pretty simple.

Ask past customers.

Asking someone about the Artist a few years down the road could be the very best way to find out an artist’s ability. You can ask the important questions like,

Is the shop clean and sterile? – (Its just a good sign of a professional) Did you feel comfortable? How long did the Tattoo Take to finish? Were there any problems during the Tattoo work? Was the Tattoo Artist limited in the style of work he/she could perform? Did the color of the Tat stay? Did it keep its original look? Have you had reworks done out of necessity? Biggest Question – Are you satisfied with the overall look of the Tattoo and its appearance?

Now there are obviously many more question’s you will want to ask once you are narrowing your search. But being able to get answer’s like these to the “How to select a tattoo artist?” question will be a huge help. Finding out what previous customer’s think about the work done can be critical.

Discover More on Tattoos Made Famous

admin » 13 August 2009 » In Tattoos » No Comments

While we may think tattoos have been made popular today by a celebrity and in the past only worn by sailors or bikers, you would be amazed to find out that tattoos have been a part of life for centuries and centuries and was performed world-wide by the time of Christ. The first known celebrity, if you will, would have been King Harold II of England who is the first known royalty to bear a tattoo. It was a tattoo on his chest that identified him as the king to William the Conqueror as he lay dying on the battlefield in 1066. It read, “Edith and England” which was a reference to his mistress and later wife and is reported to be one of a few tattoos upon the king’s body. Tattoos as a fashion seemed to fade with King Harold II’s death but re-emerged as fashionable as the exploration of the globe progressed in the 1600’s.

At this point in time is when sailors came back with tattoos after their voyages and it was a matter of time before the royal and socially elite started putting ink to their skin. The mother of Winston Churchill, Lady Randolph Spencer Churchill, was mentioned as having a small snake tattoo around her wrist which she covered by bracelets went she desired for it not to show. She was one of many who sported tattoos at the time, men or women. Franklin D. Roosevelt had a tattoo of his family crest and Thomas Edison had five dots on his forearm arranged like the five dots on a die.

More recently in time is a resurgence in the art of tattooing from famous movie stars to sport’s icons and of course the musician. Could there be anyone that draws more attention to tattoo art than perhaps the actress Angelina Jolie? Ms. Jolie has had several tattoo sessions and a few tattoo removal sessions as well. Of all her current tattoos, there are three that stand out and are most remembered by people. It is her Thai tattoos of the Buddhist Pali incantation and Bengal tiger both done by Sompong Kanhphaiin tattoo artist in Thailand as well as the geographic coordinates on her arm in reference to the birthplaces of her children. Angelina is not alone in the actor field sporting a tattoo, but musicians have probably been more noted for their body art.

Lenny Kravitz has at least two ink jobs with a cross and a dragon, Jon Bon Jovi carries a superman insignia, long horn skull and a dragon tat, while Beyonce has a praying angel on her upper thigh. Brittany Spears has brought to light the importance of choosing tattoos carefully. The sport’s world also has members with body art. Who can forget Dennis Rodman’s numerous tattoos all over including a picture of his daughter, a cross and a Harley Davidson tattoo. David Beckham is reported to have nine tattoos that make reference to family and his sport and a winged guardian angel to look over all of them which is placed across the shoulder blades and down his spine. Anna Kournikova has a large star pattern inked in on her lower back.

Tattoo art now embraces all of humanity, from all races and income levels. The reasons for a tattoo may be clear or unknown, but tattoo is an artful language developed over centuries and continues strong today.
