Don’t Get a Tattoo Because a Lover Demanded it

admin » 19 May 2009 » In Tattoo Flash » No Comments

Alright, I know today isn’t Wednesday but I have another post sort of related to celebrities. I was reading the latest tattoo news and I found this story about singer Charlotte Church. She is demanding that her boyfriend and father of her one year old daughter as well as the baby she is currently pregnant with to get her name tattooed somewhere on his body. She believes that because they are not married that he should do something special for her. She has even started to think up tattoo designs for him. I honestly do not know how much truth their is to this story but I think it is ridiculous.

Like I have said numerous times before one of the dumbest things you could possible do is get a tattoo of a lover’s name on your body. Because let’s face it you more than likely will not be with that person for the rest of your life. And a lot of times once you get your lover’s name tattooed on you it jinxes your relationship and you end up breaking up. But if you absolutely have to have your lover’s name tattooed on you, there is a better route you can go. First of all you could get their name tattooed in a different language so only you would know what it said. Or you could get their birthday tattooed on you again in a different language, or their Zodiac sign or something to that effect. But please think long and hard before you go through with something as serious as a tattoo.

Man Offers His Skin For Tattoo Practice

admin » 12 May 2009 » In Tattoo Flash » No Comments

I for one don’t really agree with this. This man is offering his body to any Tom, Dick or Harry that wants to become a tattoo artist. This could really turn into some thing bad if this guy isn’t careful. Tattooing is a serious business and should not be taken lightly. There is a lot more to tattooing that just turning on the tattoo gun and start “drawing” on someones skin. For instance they may not know how deep your are suppose to go before you get to your second layer of skin, which is wear tattoos are suppose to be. Also there is a high chance of cross-contamination or blood-borne pathogens or sterilization.

Just in case you are wondering this man has placed an ad on Craiglist offering his body to a hopeful tattoo artist to basically practice on him. The main reason I believe this man is doing this is to get free tattoos. He currently has 2 tattoos and said he would love to have his whole torso covered in them and this way would be perfect because he could get inked for free. But has he even thought for a second that these “free tattoos” he will be getting may not be all that great. After all the person is “practicing” and we all know that practice makes perfect. I for one would not want to have someone practicing their tattoo skills on my body, mainly because you will have to live that that not so great tattoo for the rest of your life. Also you may get some sort of infection or something worse because they “artist” may or may not know what they are doing.

So You Want a Tattoo

admin » 12 May 2009 » In Tattoo Flash » No Comments

So you have made the decision to get a tattoo, that is great, but there are a couple things you need to think about before you set off and get inked. The biggest decision you need to make is what kind of tattoo you are going to get. Did you know that nearly 35% of people regret their first tattoo? Well I hate to say that I fall into that category. I don’t necessarily regret my first tattoo, but I don’t exactly like it anymore. So you need to be 110% sure you will be okay having this tattoo on your body for the rest of your life. Secondly, if this will be your first tattoo try not to go over board with it, ie don’t get something extremely huge that covers a large area of your body.

The second decision you need to make is where to get the tattoo on your body. Of course the places are literally endless. If you don’t handle pain very well be for warned that it does hurt, it’s no completely painless. If you are concerned about the pain, then consider getting a tattoo on your shoulder blade, the one I go there hardly hurt at all. Also for you guys out there, I hear that the top of your arm doesn’t hurt either, I personally can’t vouch for that because I don’t have on there. But women please listen up to this, especially you teenage girls out there. You may want to triple think getting a tattoo on your stomach or pelvic area because if you decided to have children one day that little butterfly you have down there may turn into some hideous stretched out ugly mess.

If you are having trouble finding the perfect somthing to have inked on your body. You can always sit down with a tattoo artist and have them draw you up one or you can check out Infinte Tattoos and look through the hundreds of tattoo designs that are featured on the site.

Caring For a New Tattoo – Step-by-Step Guide

Caring For a New Tattoo

When you finally decide to get a tattoo, the first thing you’ll need to do is find a reputable tattoo artist.  Most tattoo artists have several designs that you can pick from.  If you don’t find anything you like, you can always ask him to make a custom tattoo.  You should always be careful in what you choose, as you’ll have the tattoo for the rest of your life.  The design is very important, although not nearly as important as taking care of it.

Good tattoo artists will also clean and apply antiseptic ointment to your tattoo as they create it.  Expert artists know that this helps keep the tattoo healthy.  Once the tattoo is finished, the artists will wipe it down, clean it off good, and apply another coat of antiseptic ointment.  Once the ointment has been applied, he will put a piece of soft tissue or cellophane over the tattoo.

Once the tattoo is finished, the artists should tell you how to take care of your new tattoo.  Some of the better artists will talk to you and give you a detailed sheet with all of the information you need.  If you went to a tattoo artist who didn’t explain this to you, you may be wondering just what you should do.  Taking care of a tattoo isn’t hard – as long as you know what you can and can’t do.

When you first get home with your new tattoo, you should never hop right in the shower.  You should keep it dry for the first few days, but also clean it every few hours.  Before you touch the tattoo or clean it, you should always make sure that your hands are clean.  If you keep your hands clean, you won’t have to worry about an infection.

You’ll also want to visit your local drugstore and purchase a tube of A&D ointment.  A&D ointment is the best to use.  A&D will keep your tattoo clean and shiny and should be used for the first few days. Once the ointment starts to dry on the tattoo, you should wipe the old application off and apply some more.  Don’t rub it too hard, or you could damage the healing process.  For the first few days, you should avoid using soap as well.

After 5 – 6 days, you can quit using the ointment.  A&D ointment will keep your tattoo healthy, which you’ll notice the first time you apply it.  After you stop using it, you should use an unscented body lotion.  You want to avoid body lotions that have scents, as they can easily irritate the tender skin that resides under your tattoo.

After you have used the lotion for a few days, you can stop using it.  Most tattoos, after they have healed, tend to leave a scab in some areas.  If your tattoo has a scab, you should be careful when you try to pick it.  If you aren’t careful, you could end up damaging your design.  The best thing to do is you have a scab is to leave it alone.  You can put A&D ointment on it if you want, as most of the time a scab will itch.

A tattoo can be a great thing to have providing you take care of it. Tattoos will stay with your for the rest of your life, unless you choose to get them surgically removed.  Taking care of your tattoo now will keep it healthy and infection free in the long run.  If you follow the above advice on how to take care of your tattoo – you won’t have anything to worry about.
